Editorial Policy

The journal "Demography and social economy" is a peer-reviewed, open access journal that publishes original research articles related to all aspects of textiles.

The journal "Demography and social economy"only accepts papers that are original works, no part of which has been published or is being submitted for publication elsewhere except as brief abstracts. Duplicate publication or submission, falsification, plagiarism, or fabrication will be considered actionable violations of this policy. The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for the specific editorial conduct of The journal "Demography and social economy" and compliance with the relevant policies and procedures.

Every manuscript is treated by the Editors and reviewers as privileged information, and they are instructed to exclude themselves from the review of any manuscript that might involve a conflict of interest or the appearance thereof. Specific details of the review process are contained in the instructions to authors. There is a per-page charge for all published manuscripts.

It is expected that each author has made an important scientific contribution to the study and be thoroughly familiar with the original data. It is also expected that each author has read the complete manuscript and takes responsibility for its content and completeness.

Public Access Policy

The journal's Public Access Policy ensures that the public has access to the published results. Anyone can access the full text of the most recent articles online and there are no restrictions on the number of views or the number of articles accessed in that period. Authors retain copyright and can easily comply with open access mandates.

No information provided by subscribers or users will be provided to any other organization, agency, corporation, other entity or third-party without the expressed written consent of those subscribers and users.

Ethical Guidelines to Publication

Editorial Board of The journal "Demography and social economy", published by the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and Ptoukha Institute for Demography and Social Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, maintains a certain level of Admission Requirements and Selection Criteria for articles. These rules are defined in scientific directions of Journal, which identified by the Certificate of the state registration. Editions contain articles that have been peer reviewed, in an attempt to ensure that articles meet the journal's standards of quality, and scientific validity.

The journal "Demography and social economy" strictly adheres to the international publishing standards of the publication, by the above principles of the Publishing Ethics Resource Kit (PERK), Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), Ethical code of the scientist of Ukraine and the operating experience of Ukrainian and foreign professional societies, research organizations and editorial publications. We believe that as defined below can provide substantial help to experienced scientists, graduate students and young scientists.

Ethical Guidelines

Ethical Obligations of Editors of Journal

  • The Editor-in-Chief directs and supervises the policies of a journal and is responsible for maintaining its scientific and literary quality.
  • An editor should give unbiased consideration to all manuscripts offered for publication, judging each on its merits without regard to race, religion, nationality, sex, seniority, or institutional affiliation of the author(s).
  • The editor and members of the editorial team should not disclose information about a manuscript under consideration to anyone other than those from whom professional advice is sought. After a decision the editor may disclose manuscript titles and authors’ names of papers that have been accepted for publication.
  • All members of the editorial board and editors should consider manuscripts submitted for publication with all reasonable speed and attention.
  • A reviewers responsible for maintaining the balance of high-quality materials published, freedom of expression and academic integrity
  • The sole responsibility for acceptance or rejection of a manuscript rests with the editor. Manuscripts may be rejected without review if considered inappropriate for the journal.
  • If an editor is presented with convincing evidence that the main substance or conclusions of a report published in an editor’s journal are erroneous, the editor should facilitate publication of an appropriate report or note pointing out the error and, if possible, correcting it.
  • At any point of time, the authors of already published materials have the right to contact the editorial team with the request of clarification or correction publishing. The editor shall fully support this decision of the authors, however, they may also request additional explanation before publication and/or retraction. The time and the issue of publishing additions/apology/clarification is to be determined by the editors depending on the technical capacities of the editorial office.
  • All situations presented as the conflict of interests shall be resolved according to COPE regulations. In such situations editors and/or publishers are expected to find a relevant case among those described on the COPE site and take action accordingly.
  • The editorial board of the journal opposes falsification, plagiarism, sending the author of one work to several journals, repeated copying of the content of the article in various works, misleading the public about the real contribution of authors to the publication. If the fact of plagiarism is found  and have all the evidence to prove it - they maintain the right to contact the author’s employer, the related Ministry of Education and/or other appropriate authority (depending on a country and a specific case) and report the case of plagiarism.
  • In case plagiarism or other misconduct have been reported externally, the editors are expected to fully cooperate on the case and provide all evidence they have on the case, apart from the identity of the involved reviewers.
  • Unpublished information, or interpretations disclosed in a submitted manuscript should not be used in an editor’s own research except with the consent of the author. When a manuscript is so closely related to the research of an editor as to create a conflict of interest, the editor should arrange for some other qualified person to take editorial responsibility for that manuscript.
  • Editors of the journal are responsible for explaining the details on the double-blind peer-review procedures to both the authors and the reviewers. Every time the reviewer gets the text for a blind review, they also get a reminder on rules and procedures accepted by the editorial team.
  • Editors of the journal are responsible for revision of academic publishing rules and double-blind peer-review standards on the annual basis (at least once a year; additional changes can be introduced if the world standards and/or COPE regulations change).
  • In case an author, a reviewer or a reader plans to file a complaint regarding the journal’s activities, they are kindly asked to contact the related editor as the first instance. In case the filer of the complaint disagrees with the decision and/or explanation provided by the editor - they are asked to contact the publisher. The publisher has the right to disregard the complaint if the filer did not try to settle the case with the editor first.

Ethical Obligations of Authors

  • An author presents a concise and accurate report of their research and an objective discussion of its significance.
  • A primary research report should contain sufficient detail and reference to public sources of information to permit the author’s peers to repeat the work.
  • An author should cite those publications that have been influential in determining the nature of the reported work and that will guide the reader quickly to the earlier work that is essential for understanding the present investigation.
  • Fragmentation of research reports must be avoided.
  • It is improper for an author to submit manuscripts describing essentially the same research to more than one journal of primary publication, unless it is a resubmission of a
  • manuscript rejected for or withdrawn from publication.
  • All sources should be disclosed, and if a significant amount of other people's material is to be used, permission must be sought by the author in accordance with copyright law. An author should not use privately obtained information (for example information obtained through conversation), or information obtained through the performance of a confidential service (for example the refereeing of a manuscript), without permission from the person from whom the information originated.
  • In submitting a manuscript for publication, an author should inform the editor of related manuscripts that the author has under editorial consideration or in press.
  • An author should identify the source of all information quoted or offered, except that which is common knowledge. Information obtained privately, as in conversation, correspondence, or discussion with third parties, should not be used or reported in the author’s work.
  • At no time is personal criticism ever considered to be appropriate in a written piece of work.
  • To give due acknowledgement to all workers contributing to the work. Those who have contributed significantly to the research should be listed as co-authors. On submission of the manuscript, the corresponding author attests to the fact that those named as co-authors have agreed to its submission for publication and accepts the responsibility for having properly included all (and only) co-authors. Any change in authorship after initial submission must be approved by all authors and justified to the Editor.
  • The authors should reveal to the editor any potential conflict of interest that might be affected by publication of the results contained in a manuscript.

Ethical Obligations of Reviewers

  • A reviewers should respect the intellectual independence of the authors.
  • A reviewers should treat a manuscript as a confidential document.
  • A reviewers should judge objectively the quality of the manuscript.
  • Any statement that an observation, derivation, or argument had been previously reported should be accompanied by the relevant citation.
  • A reviewers should be sensitive to the appearance of a conflict of interest when the manuscript under review is related to the reviewer’s work in progress or published.
  • A reviewers should not evaluate a manuscript authored or co-authored by a person with whom the reviewer has a personal or professional connection if the relationship would bias judgment of the manuscript.
  • A reviewers should call to the editor’s attention any significant similarity between the manuscript under consideration and any published paper or any manuscript submitted concurrently to another journal.
  • A reviewers should act promptly, submitting a report in a timely manner.
  • Reviewers should not use or disclose unpublished information, arguments, or interpretations contained in a manuscript under consideration, except with the consent of the author.
  • At no time is personal criticism of the author ever considered to be appropriate when reviewing their work.
  • A reviewers should retain or copy the submitted manuscript in any form; to comply with data protection regulations, as appropriate.
